Leon Beauchman

Director, Wireless Communication Initiative

Veteran Silicon Valley telecommunications executive Leon Beauchman came to Joint Venture as executive director of the Wireless Communications Initiative in January 2011 following his retirement from a 25-year career with AT&T, where he had been the company’s area external affairs manager since 1998.

Beauchman has a long history of business and community involvement in Silicon Valley, with an emphasis on education. He has served on the Santa Clara County Board of Education since 1999, and previously served on the Campbell Unified School District Board of Trustees. He is also president of the Santa Clara County Alliance of Black Educators and has worked on educational initiatives for Joint Venture and the Silicon Valley Leadership Group.

Beauchman earned dual undergraduate degrees in business administration and economics as well as his MBA at San Jose State University. After serving in the Peace Corps in Ghana, he held positions in financial services and advertising before settling in telecommunications.
