Joint Venture leader joins Connected City Advisory Board

Witkowski headshotMay 25, 2017 – Joint Venture Silicon Valley and the Connected City Advisory Board (CCAB) announced today that David Witkowski, Executive Director of Joint Venture's Civic Technology Initiative, will formally participate in the CCAB, an international group of municipal leaders, government officials and invited industry experts.

The CCAB, an initiative of the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), develops, shares, and promotes thought-leadership and practical frameworks for the social and economic development and sustainable operation of the Connected City ecosystem.

“We are thrilled to cooperate with Joint Venture Silicon Valley and its member cities on the CCAB. The committee will be imperative to the development of the agenda, driving engagement and developments of public Wi-Fi with Connected and Smart Cities and regions through best practices, creation of public-private ecosystems and collaboration mechanisms for resource contribution,” said Shrikant Shenwai, CEO of the WBA.

“The mission of the CCAB is to build awareness, advocacy and global availability of connectivity guided by the leadership of Connected Cities. These cities will guide and mobilize the industry through the adoption of standards and best practices as defined by the shared knowledge of the CCAB,” added Shrikant.

Joint Venture’s role in the CCAB will include cooperating on conference events, contributing to the Connected City Blueprint, and encouraging participation in the annual World Wi-Fi Day.

“We’ve worked with the CCAB in the past by bringing city CIOs and CTOs to their annual gathering at the Wireless Global Congress in San Jose,” said David Witkowski. “We share its vision that seamless connectivity is a critical element of 21st century life. This is a natural extension of the work we’re doing locally, and it gives us an opportunity to share those ideas with a national and international audience.”
