Steven Bochner succeeds Chris DiGiorgio; Marc Compton, Josué García elected
June 13, 2014 – The Joint Venture Silicon Valley board of directors today appointed attorney Steven Bochner as its new co-chair and elected two new members, Marc Compton and Josué García, at its quarterly meeting in San Jose.
Bochner, a Joint Venture board member since 2004, is a partner and former CEO at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati, where he has served for 30 years. Bochner succeeds outgoing co-chair Chris DiGiorgio, who recently retired as a managing director with Accenture. DiGiorgio will continue serving on Joint Venture’s Senior Advisory Council.
Compton is managing director and market executive for Silicon Valley and the East Bay with Bank of America/U.S. Trust. He has had multiple leadership roles with Bank of America for ten years, including the Premier Banking and Investments Group, Merrill Lynch and Banc of America Investments.
Previously, Compton worked with Morgan Stanley, Recognition Equipment and LTV Aerospace. He holds an MBA in finance from Southern Methodist University and a BS in engineering physics from Oklahoma Christian University.
García is CEO of the Santa Clara and San Benito County Building and Construction Trades Council, which represents 26 unions with some 30,000 members.
An immigrant who worked his way up through the Roofers Union, García previously served as deputy executive officer of the building trades council for ten years and was chief of staff for San Jose City Council member Xavier Campos.
The 50-member Joint Venture board of directors includes senior-level representatives from business, government, academia, labor and workforce organizations and the broader community. Among Joint Venture’s current regional initiatives are programs to support economic development, build the smart energy network of the future, strengthen climate protection, broaden the region's wireless network and beautify the El Camino Real.
