Joint Venture adds three new board members

The Joint Venture board of directors has elected LinkedIn Senior Vice President and General Counsel Michael Callahan, The Irvine Company Vice President Carlene Matchniff and San Jose State University President Dr. Mary Papazian as its newest members.

Callahan is responsible for worldwide legal affairs and public policy at LinkedIn. Matchniff is responsible for entitlements, public and governmental affairs for the Northern California region for The Irvine Company. Dr. Papazian joined San Jose State University July 1 with 25 years of experience in teaching and academic administrative experience.

Joint Venture endorses Measures A and B on housing and transportation

The Joint Venture Silicon Valley board of directors has endorsed Santa Clara County Measures A and B on the November ballot to provide more affordable housing and support transit improvements.

Measure A is a General Obligation bond measure to raise up to $950 million to provide affordable housing for the homeless, low-income families and first-time homebuyers. Measure B is a 30-year, 1/2-cent sales tax to enhance transit, highways, expressways and active transportation.

Regional Mobility Partnership to Bring SoBi Smart-Bikes to Peninsula

The City of Palo Alto and Motivate, the nation’s largest bike share operator, are negotiating terms for an agreement to operate a fleet of 350 SoBi (Social Bicycles) smart-bikes on the Peninsula starting in June 2017.

If approved at the City Council’s Oct. 4 meeting, the proposed terms and a subsequent agreement allow for other cities to join the regional system.

The Managers’ Mobility Partnership, recently formed by Joint Venture Silicon Valley, Stanford University and the cities of Menlo Park, Mountain View, Palo Alto and Redwood City to address regional transportation issues, helped bring consensus on moving forward with bike share, and has been an advocate for mobility on the Peninsula.

West Valley Broker Breakfast Oct. 27 in Campbell

The Silicon Valley Development Alliance invites commercial real estate brokers and other development professionals to an informative, interactive (and free!) West Valley breakfast briefing in Campbell Thursday, October 27.

Panelists from Campbell, Cupertino, Los Altos and Los Gatos will discuss the latest news and opportunities in their communities. The event takes place at the Campbell Community Center, 1 W. Campbell Avenue, beginning at 7:30 a.m. with continental breakfast. Panelists will be available for networking after the presentation.
