burgundy and white cover

Peninsula job growth has slowed over the past year, yet the housing shortage became more acute, according to a report just out from Joint Venture’s Institute for Regional Studies. The report shows housing prices (including rent) rising at a faster pace than wages.

The data, however, also shows a remarkable surge in Silicon Valley, the Bay Area and the state economy between 2012 and 2016, and there are continuing signs of new hiring. It also notes housing and transportation efforts of late.

Bitbadal, the city’s Economic Development Director and the outgoing Chair of Joint Venture’s Silicon Valley Economic Development Alliance, certainly has Milpitas first on her list.
