Joint Venture and USGS partner to roll out HayWired quake scenario
|
 |
Joint Venture is actively working with the U. S. Geological Survey on its HayWired scenario, a regional disaster response plan that envisions a Magnitude 7.0 earthquake on the Hayward Fault at 4:18 p.m. next April 18 (the anniversary of the great San Francisco earthquake and fire in 1906).
Joint Venture is among eight coalition coordinators convening 60 partners from state and local governments, research organizations, non-profits and private businesses to explore how they will be affected, what information they need, and what decisions they make before and after an earthquake.
Jonathan Stock and Anne Wein of the USGS and Deputy Secretary Lynn von Koch-Liebert of the California Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency recently outlined the project to the Joint Venture board.
Kara Gross, director of public sector climate initiatives, and David Witkowski, director of civic technology initiatives, are leading Joint Venture’s participation in the scenario.
