High School All Stars

High School All Stars is a regional, audition-based music education program for students who are interested in the study and performance of jazz. The program includes a large ensemble and a combo. It’s designed to help students achieve a mastery of improvisation techniques while advancing their knowledge of music theory, arranging, composition, performance, and jazz history. Participation includes weekly rehearsals at San José State University and performances in professional venues.

Trevor Neal

Opera San Jose | Baritone

Trevor Neal A member of the resident company at Opera San Jose and a 2018 MET National Council LA Region Finalist, baritone Trevor Neal will open State of the Valley with the National Anthem. San Jose audiences will see him in a matinee as Tonio in Pagliacci, Captain Gardiner in Moby Dick and Sharpless in Madama Butterfly. The Grammy-nominated baritone began his formal training at the University of North Texas and was hailed by Opera News for his extremely “warm and rich baritone.” Trevor’s exciting 2018/19 season ahead will begin with performances at the Newport Music Festival-Newport, RI as the festival baritone, singing works of Schubert, Bizet, Rossini, Copland, and Heggie.
