Joint Venture board adds new members

March 15, 2024 – The Joint Venture Silicon Valley board of directors today elected four new members at their quarterly meeting. Unanimously elected were Teresa Alvarado, Regional Vice President, PG&E; Katie Ferrick, Managing Director, Applied Materials; Elijah Lefkow, , Senior Manager, San Francisco 49ers; and Jessica Weare, Vice President, Corporate Responsibility, Silicon Valley Community Foundation

“The combined experience of this new panel of leaders will bring strength and innovation to Joint Venture’s work,” said Russell Hancock, President & CEO of Joint Venture. “We are pleased to welcome them to the Joint Venture board.”

Teresa Alvarado is a senior infrastructure leader with experience in water, energy, and urban planning and policy. She is Vice President of Pacific Gas & Electric, South Bay & Central Coast Region. Alvarado serves as an independent director and chair of the ESG committee for GreenWaste Recovery. She previously served as a Gubernatorial appointee and chair of the California Water Commission Previously, she served on the Board of Directors of SPUR and served as the organization’s Chief of Local Impact. she was Deputy Administrative Officer for the Santa Clara Valley Water District.

Katie Ferrick is a Managing Director at Applied Materials where she brings over 10 years of experience in leading social impact, community affairs, and environmental sustainability initiatives. As a member of the Corporate Strategy and Development organization, Ferrick leverages team management and systems thinking skills to drive impactful programs that align with Applied’s vision to Make Possible a Better Future. After earning a master’s degree in marriage & family counseling from San Francisco State University, Ferrick served as Deputy District Director for US Congresswoman Jackie Speier.

Elijah Lefkow is a Senior Manager with the San Francisco 49ers where he handles public affairs, community relations, and external engagement. He spent ten years working in Democratic politics at the local, state, and federal level across the country. He has worked in a variety of roles for multiple Presidential, Senate, Gubernatorial, and Congressional campaigns, and was most recently a Senior Advisor in the House of Representatives. Lefkow is a Washington, D.C. native and enjoys watching sports and exploring the Bay Area in his free time.

Jessica Weare is Vice President of Corporate Responsibility at Silicon Valley Community Foundation, partnering with corporations across the region to help address community challenges and advance strategic corporate philanthropy. Previously, Weare directed Microsoft’s philanthropic work in Silicon Valley, supporting nonprofits working in education, workforce development, and civic technology. At United Way Bay Area’s public policy committee, Weare successfully advocated in Sacramento and Washington D.C. for legislation strengthening public education, healthcare, economic mobility, and charitable giving. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University, and a doctorate from Stanford University.
