June 11, 2021 – The Joint Venture Silicon Valley board of directors today elected three new board members at its quarterly meeting. Katie Ferrick, Senior Director of Workplace Programs at LinkedIn; Claire Johnston, Managing Director of Google Real Estate Development at LendLease; and Hrishika Vuppala Partner at McKinsey & Company, were unanimously elected to the body of leaders.
“We are pleased to welcome this panel of accomplished leaders to the Joint Venture board,” said Russell Hancock, President & CEO of Joint Venture. “Their combined experience will bring strength and innovation to Joint Venture’s work.”
Katie Ferrick is the Senior Director of Community Development, Sustainability, and Workplace Programs at LinkedIn. Ferrick’s job is to ensure that — through partnerships with nonprofits and community groups — LinkedIn makes a positive impact in the community.
Ferrick developed strategies to enable LinkedIn to expand in San Francisco, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and Dublin, Ireland. She created the company’s community relations program and launched the Environmental Sustainability program.
After earning a master’s degree in Marriage & Family Counseling from San Francisco State University, Ferrick served as Deputy District Director for US Congresswoman Jackie Speier. In 2017, Ferrick spearheaded a program to leverage LinkedIn funds to invest in affordable housing production. The program catalyzed production of more than 200 low and very-low-income affordable housing units in Mountain View.
Claire Johnston serves as Managing Director for Lendlease’s Google Real Estate Development venture, a 15-year, US $15bn joint undertaking of master planning, entitlement and development of Google's Bay Area landholdings in San Jose, Sunnyvale, and Mountain View.
Prior to this role, Johnston served as Managing Director of Lendlease Communities, an exclusive partnership with the Department of Defense that had her leading Lendlease’s Development projects, Property and Asset Management, Environment, and Health & Safety initiatives, in addition to management of new business opportunities. Johnston received a Bachelor of Commerce, Labor, and Industrial Relations from the University of Western Sydney, and a Master’s Degree in Business from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
