Environmental Capital Consultant and Entrepreneur Kelly Krpata tapped for post
San Jose, Calif. | May 26, 2009 – Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network has announced the appointment of environmental capital consultant, financial marketing expert and entrepreneur Kelly Krpata as the first Applied Materials Director of Climate Prosperity.
“Kelly is the superstar we were looking for to fill this key role,” said Russell Hancock, CEO of Joint Venture, adding that Krpata edged out roughly 100 candidates for the position. “He is a self-starter who has done breakthrough work in climate protection.”
“Kelly brings a wealth of experience and a good combination of proven business acumen and passion for the environment,” said Charlie Gay, President of Applied Materials solar business. “We believe Kelly is the right person to rapidly implement the Climate Prosperity “Greenprint” and to establish the program here in the Bay Area as a benchmark for the rest of the country and the world.”
Krpata currently operates his own firm, Krpata Capital Partners, which provides financial marketing services to the Electric Power Research Institute and other clients involved in wind energy generation and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
Krpata previously founded his own licensed sportswear company, and held positions with Bear, Stearns & Co., Citibank and NBC. He has a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan Business School and a BA in political science and communication from Boston College. Krpata attended Bellarmine College Preparatory school in San Jose.
Joint Venture launched the Climate Prosperity project at the annual State of the Valley conference in February with the aid of a $300,000 grant from Nanomanufacturing Technology company Applied Materials. Its premise is that the climate crisis is an opportunity to build new industry clusters, create new classes of jobs at all income levels, and grow the economy while protecting the environment and improving the region’s long term sustainability and competitiveness.
