Fred Diaz, James Keene, Gautam Srivastava, Patricia Williams approved at quarterly meeting
June 15, 2012 - The Joint Venture Silicon Valley board of directors today elected four new members, two from the public sector and two from the private sector. The new members are Fremont City Manager Fred Diaz, Palo Alto City Manager James Keene, LSI Corporation senior vice president Gautam Srivastava and Merrill Lynch/Bank of America director Patricia Williams.
"These four new board members will further enrich Joint Venture's diverse and dedicated board with their background, experience and dedication to collaborative efforts for our region," said Russell Hancock, CEO of Joint Venture. "We welcome their service."
Diaz, in his current post since 2004, was also city manager of Tracy for ten years and previously served in several Southern California cities. Fred earned his master's degree in public administration and a bachelor's degree in political science and public administration from California State University, Fullerton. He is Joint Venture's first board member from any Alameda County city.
Keene, Palo Alto city manager since 2008, previously held the same post in Berkeley and Tucson and was executive director of the California State Association of Counties from 2005 to 2007. James holds a B.A. in history and a master's in urban studies from the University of Maryland. He succeeds former Cupertino city manager Dave Knapp as the board representative of the Santa Clara County City Managers Association.
Srivastava serves as senior vice president for human resources and corporate marketing with LSI, also managing the relationship with the compensation committee of the company's board of directors. Previously, he held global executive positions with Advanced Micro Devices and was a principal at Mercer Consulting. Gautam has a B.A. in economics from UCLA. He also previously served on the Joint Venture board with AMD.
Williams, director of the Silicon Valley Capital Complex since 2001, has been with Merrill Lynch since 1986. She is the recipient of numerous awards for her business leadership and community activities. A native of Korea who grew up in Fresno, Pat holds CRPC and CFP certifications. She succeeds former Bank of America representative Kevin Gillis on the board.
The 50-member Joint Venture board of directors includes senior-level representatives from business, local and regional government, academia, labor and workforce organizations and the broader community. Among Joint Venture’s current regional initiatives are programs to support economic development, strengthen climate protection, establish a disaster resiliency center, broaden the region's wireless network and beautify the El Camino Real.
