Board welcomes Chancellor Linda Thor and Wells Fargo executive Eric C. Houser

San Jose, Calif. | June 21, 2010 – Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network today announced the election of two new members to its board of directors, Linda Thor, the new chancellor of the Foothill-DeAnza Community College District, and Eric C. Houser, executive vice president and Santa Clara County regional manager with Wells Fargo & Company.

Chancellor Thor joined the district in February to succeed Martha Kanter, who departed to become Undersecretary of Education in the Obama Administration. Eric Houser oversees the Santa Clara County commercial and technology banking groups for Wells Fargo.

“The Joint Venture board consistently draws regional leaders of the highest caliber, and these two new members are no exception,” said Russell Hancock, CEO of Joint Venture. “Linda and Eric both come to the board with experience, vision and commitment to our region. ”

Prior to her new post, Chancellor Thor served for nearly 20 years as president of Rio Salada College in Tempe, Arizona. She previously was president of West Los Angeles College and held senior management roles with the Los Angeles Community College District.

Eric Houser was previously regional vice president and started the California Growth Technology Group for Wells Fargo. He joined the company in 1997 as a senior relationship manager in Palo Alto and later became loan team manager of the Santa Clara Valley commercial banking group.

The 50-member Joint Venture board of directors includes representatives from business, academia, local and regional government, labor and workforce and the broader community.

Among Joint Venture’s current regional initiatives are programs to support climate protection, recruit and retain teachers, establish a disaster resiliency center, create a sustainable building framework, assemble a multipurpose wireless network and beautify the El Camino Real.
