SJSU president, San Mateo County manager and Cupertino City manager elected to Joint Venture Board of Directors

San Jose, Calif. | December 2, 2008 – San Jose State University President Jon Whitmore, Cupertino City Manager Dave Knapp and incoming San Mateo County Manager Dave Boesch have been elected to the Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network board of directors, Joint Venture CEO and President Russell Hancock announced today.

Whitmore fills a seat vacated by retired SJSU President Don Kassing. Knapp replaces retired Palo Alto City Manager Frank Benest. Boesch takes the seat held by retiring San Mateo County Manager John Maltbie. Maltbie will continue his service to the organization by joining the Joint Venture board’s Senior Advisory Council.

“With education and workforce challenges among our top priorities, these three new members bring vital experience and strong voices for regional action to our board of directors,” said Hancock.

Whitmore took over as San Jose State’s 27th president in August after five years as president of Texas Tech University. Boesch, assistant manager for San Mateo County since early 2007, assumes his new position on January 1. Knapp has been Cupertino City Manager since 2000.
