Alston + Bird, Ernst & Young partners elected to Joint Venture board of directors

Steven Hemminger, Joe Hogan approved at quarterly meeting

March 16, 2012 - Joint Venture Silicon Valley announced today that Alston + Bird partner Steven Hemminger and Ernst & Young senior partner Joe Hogan have been elected to the organization's board of directors.

Hemminger is Partner-in-Charge of Alston + Bird’s Silicon Valley office and is a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group. He has substantial experience in litigation of patent, trademark and trade secret cases in the electronics, semiconductor and computer software and hardware fields.

Hemminger earned his BS in mechanical engineering from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his JD, magna cum laude, from the Southwestern University School of Law.

Hogan is a tax partner in the San Jose office of Ernst & Young and is currently the firm’s West Sub-Area Leader for Business Tax Services (BTS). Hogan began his career with Ernst & Young in 1989, working with multinational technology clients on federal income tax, transactions and tax accounting matters.

He spent three years in the Zurich, Switzerland office before relocating to San Jose in 2009. Hogan received his BS in accounting from Wake Forest University.

The 50-member Joint Venture board of directors includes senior-level representatives from business, local and regional government, academia, labor and workforce organizations and the broader community. Among Joint Venture’s current regional initiatives are programs to support economic development, strengthen climate protection, establish a disaster resiliency center, broaden the region's wireless network and beautify the El Camino Real.
