Joint Venture presses ideas at two state transportation workshops on SB 743

Joint Venture’s Smart Mobility director Steve Raney presented strategy proposals at two separate workshops on a state senate bill calling for new approaches to transportation.

Joint Venture co-sponsored the June 14-15 workshops in San Jose and Los Angeles for a coalition of three state agencies and five metropolitan planning organizations formed as the Senate Bill 743 Implementation Assistance Project: From Driving More to Driving Less. The bill calls for new approaches to mitigate transportation impacts under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

“It is inspiring to see this vigorous state and regional collaboration to facilitate the SB 743 transition,” says Raney. "Some very senior state people contributed. VTA, San Jose, Lyft, Uber, Mineta Transportation Institute, Fehr and Peers, and Nelson Nygaard also took leading roles.”
