Silicon Valley Talent Partnership and EY complete project

Joint Venture’s Silicon Valley Talent Partnership Initiative recently completed a regional education project in conjunction with the San Jose Mayor’s office and the EY Community Impact Program, through which professionals from Ernst & Young LLP suspend their EY work and work on a full-time basis for organizations in their hometowns whose missions align with EY's focus on the 3Es – Education, Entrepreneurship and Equity in the Workplace.

Two consultants from EY-Parthenon spent eight weeks working with the mayor’s office to deliver an extensive, pre-planning phase strategic roadmap for Silicon Valley Promise: a vision for a regional, integrated, student-centered, approach to education that offers seamless pathways to and through college and on to career success with Silicon Valley employers.

The work that these pro bono consultants delivered will significantly inform the planning process for Silicon Valley Promise going forward, and once implemented, will play a key role in ensuring better outcomes for Silicon Valley students. Our thanks to EY and the Mayor’s Office for a successful engagement.

The way things are going in South San Francisco, the historic hillside sign visible to northbound drivers on U.S. 101 for nearly 100 years may have to be changed to read “SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO: THE BIOTECH CITY.”

“Biotech is booming in South San Francisco,” says Nell Selander, deputy director for the city’s Economic and Community Development Department and the outgoing chair of Joint Venture’s Silicon Valley Economic Development Alliance (SVEDA).

He is now retired and serves on our Senior Advisory Council.

Emily is a graduate student at the Technical University of Berlin, Germany, where she is receiving her master's degree in Urban Management & Design. She is writing her thesis on the Bay Area's mobility issues, and she will do the research and writing at Joint Venture.
