Jeff Lewis named Director, Smart Region Initiative

Jeff LewisApril 17, 2019 – Joint Venture Silicon Valley today announced that Jeff Lewis has been named Director of Joint Venture’s Smart Region Initiative where he will oversee a coalition between local governments, businesses, and residents working together to improve the application of smart city technologies across the region.

A veteran in the field of Information Technology, Lewis previously served as Director of Information Technology for the cities of Concord and Merced. As a CIO Jeff has led Smart City, broadband, IT strategic planning, enterprise architecture, policy, and research initiatives for local government. He has focused on the advancement of digital government, security policy, innovation, and emerging technologies. During this tenure, he served as the lead executive for numerous enterprise IT initiatives, projects, and efforts to improve business processes.

With over thirty-eight years in public, private, and nonprofit sectors, Lewis is a lifetime member of the Municipal Information Systems Association of California and has won the MISAC Excellence award 10 years in a row for implementing best practices in local government. He is a founding member of the Government Technology Group.

Jeff holds a BA in Computer Science with a concentration in business and an MPA from Stanislaus State University.
