November 27, 2018 – Joint Venture Silicon Valley today announced that David Witkowski, leader of its Civic Technologies program, will chair the IEEE’s 5G Deployment Working Group (5G-DWG) as part of their Future Networks - 5G and Beyond Technology Roadmap project.
IEEE’s 5G and Beyond Technology Roadmap project seeks to enhance the wireless connectivity ecosystem by understanding 5G’s technology building blocks and architecture, the application and service opportunities, the underpinning value chain of the 5G technology, and identifying technical needs and possible solutions that would enable the transformation of the wireless connectivity ecosystem from current 3G/4G technologies.
Witkowski, Executive Director of Joint Venture’s Civic Technology program (which includes the Wireless Communications, Smart Region, and Community Broadband Initiatives) has agreed to serve as Chair of the 5G Deployment Working Group.
“Realizing the promise of 5G will require dialog and alignment between industry and municipal stakeholders,” said Witkowski. “The 5G-DWG’s goal is to promote that dialog and alignment through convening and information sharing. I look forward to working with the IEEE.”
The IEEE 5G Deployment Working Group will align efforts with other Joint Venture-backed projects including the Wireless Communications Initiative, the California Emerging Technology Fund’s Technology Trends Group, and the Wireless SuperCluster at NIST’s Global City Teams Challenge.
Public sector and private sector companies interested to participate in the IEEE’s 5G Deployment Working Group should review the 5G Roadmap White Paper at http://bit.ly/5GRoadmapWhitepaper and then email or call 408-298-9333.
